Postcard: Album Release January 25, 2019
Americana with folk roots
Postcard is a true Americana album, rooted in the singer-songwriter aesthetic of songwriters Laurence Blakely and Laura Chartier, and backed by full band arrangements. The album hosts an eclectic sound, from guitar-led anthems to lyrical piano ballads, all the while holding to the interwoven arrangements, refined sound, and tight vocal harmonies that characterize TCK. Influences include Kathleen Edwards, Ben Folds, and Neko Case. The record features several guest musicians from the Anchorage music community, and was produced and mixed by Chad Reynvaan at Wattage Studios in Anchorage, Alaska. Mastering by Mike Hagler, Kingsize Sound Labs in Chicago, IL.

The Cheapest Key is Laurence Blakely (guitars, vocals) and Laura Chartier (keyboards, vocals). TCK plays original music featuring close harmonies and piano/guitar counterpoint, with folk and Americana influences. A signature part of TCK's sound is the closely blended vocal harmonies of Blakely and Chartier, who formed the band in Alaska in 2015. Both musicians are originally East Coasters (Rhode Island and New York, respectively) who became longtime Alaska transplants. Blakely is also a bass player and vocalist for the B-49s, an Anchorage B-52s cover band, and Chartier has also performed (guitar, vocals) with Anchorage band Hot Ptarmigan. Both songwriters have been featured at Parlor in the Round, in Anchorage.
The band has performed around Alaska at the Alaska Folk Festival, the Anchorage Folk Festival, the Seward Music & Arts Festival, Arctic Entries, and various other venues. Postcard, out January 25, 2019, is their first record.
